DTI: A Green Partner You Can Be Proud Of
Think of your partnership with DTI as an extension of your own environmentally friendly policies and commitments. We work hard to be the green partner you can point to with pride.
Advances in Production and Project Management
Choosing eco-friendly paper – DTI encourages the use of recycled paper, and we know how to make it work for you. Unless your specifications preclude its use, please give us a chance to demonstrate how you can succeed with this alternative.
Minimizing waste – People and businesses move often in today’s highly mobile society. To minimize waste – and save you money -- DTI routinely conducts address cleansing before printing and mailing all major projects. Plus, our associates receive USPS Mailpiece Quality Certification training to identify and eliminate inefficiencies in our production stream, further reducing waste.
Minimizing spoilage -- We’re constantly looking for ways to maximize efficiency in our use of resources. To this end, we upgraded our QA/QC process to make sure our production checks keep us on target with the quantity as well as quality of your print job.
Advances Behind-the-Scenes
Minimizing our contribution to landfills – We’ve created a corporate culture that stresses recycling. We’re working closely with a new service provider to ensure that we’re maximizing our paper recycling. And, we’ve dedicated a staff member to look for opportunities to recycle or reuse abandoned customer materials, plastic cards, promotional items, mechanical equipment, metal fixtures, and more.
Reducing our energy use – In 2007, DTI replaced our warehouse lighting system with green-friendly fluorescent fixtures that employ energy-efficient, flexible, and long-lasting electronic ballasts.
Contributing to cleaner air – We now clean our equipment with water-based cleansers because they don’t release chemicals into the air when they evaporate, like solvent-based cleansers can.
Taking disposal seriously – DTI employs a certified hazardous waste contractor to ensure that we responsibly and safely dispose of chemicals, like flammable ink thinners. We go a step further by including in this process any potentially hazardous materials to which we give special care and attention, even when not required by law or regulation to do so. For example, we think it’s worth the extra expense to dispose of fluorescent tubes with our waste contractor, even though our monthly number of replacements is below the threshold to require such treatment.
DTI’s goal is to help ensure a cleaner, greener, and healthier environment for our communities. As your business and marketing communications partner, we welcome your comments and suggestions. We’ll update this web page as new opportunities and further advances are discovered or implemented.
